Business Management for Engineers (BME) | Download Application Here

Individuals who wish to obtain a certificate in Business Management for Engineers must:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree
  • Complete the following courses for a total of six credit hours:
    • Sales and Marketing for Engineers (1 hour)
    • Managing Advanced Technology (1 hour)
    • Finance for Engineering Managers (1 hour)
    • Technology Innovation and Strategy (2 hours, online only)
    • Additional course in leadership/communication/negotiation (1 hour)
  • Earn at least a B- in each course
  • Submit the following materials to the TEC upon completion of coursework:
    • Application form (available online)
    • Transcript of the courses you’ve completed toward the BME certificate
    • Processing fee: $65 check made payable to the University of Illinois

Please note: students will not be able to earn both a Strategic Technology Management (STM) and a Business Management for Engineers (BME) certificate.  Students are encouraged to choose one certificate that most closely aligns with their goals.
