My name is Ed Preusser, I am a junior studying Economics and Business, and am currently interning at TEC. Something I didn’t know starting off here, my freshman year was the variety and number of restaurants around and near campus that are both affordable and delicious. I remember growing tired of the same old dining hall food and eventually found new places around and near green street. I am still finding new restaurants five semesters later, some of these restaurants I have found include:
- Mia Za’s – If you’re looking for a quick meal very close to campus, you’ve found the right place. Mia Za’s is conveniently close to campus located at Wright and Green Street. You can expect to spend less than $8 dollars on a full-sized meal and can choose from several build-your-own panini, pasta, pizza, or salad. I would definitely recommend Mia Za’s to anyone in-between classes looking for a fast, good quality meal.
- Mashawi Grill – Looking for authentic, Mediterranean style food close to campus? Mashawi Grill offers fresh, varied food from Kefta to Kebobs, all through a friendly staff at an affordable price. Mashawi Grill is located a few doors down from Mia Za’s so it is both convenient and affordable.
- Bombay Grill – Located three blocks from campus down Green Street, Bombay Grill provides a taste of Indian Cuisine located just down the road. Although slightly pricier than the above restaurants, Bombay Grill is definitely worth every penny. Out of the meals I’ve had so far, I’ve found that the lamb korma with a side of butter naan to be my personal favorite. Bombay provides excellent food and service at an affordable price.
These above restaurants are just of taste of the available restaurants close to campus. I encourage anyone to go beyond their comfort zone and search out new restaurants around campus and beyond.
