Biography

Manas is an experienced investor, operator, and advisor in the deep tech space. He is currently a senior advisor to a small set of global asset owners, and manages an independent private markets portfolio. He also serves as Chairman of Natrion, a dual-use battery component manufacturer with operations in Illinois and New York.

In addition to his teaching role in the Grainger College of Engineering at Illinois, Manas is a Member of the Military Education Council which leads our Armed Forces programs. He is also a Founding Member of Illini Angels.

Most recently, Manas was a venture capital investor at Mubadala Capital, an investment platform managing capital for the ~$300bn sovereign wealth fund of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi along with select third-party limited partners. His portfolio focused on advanced compute, automation and robotics, sustainability, and artificial intelligence, including companies like Crusoe, Armada, Photonic, Archer Aviation, and Waymo.

Prior to Mubadala, Manas was a generalist private equity investor at Adams Street Partners, a ~$45bn firm based in Chicago. He started his career in mergers and acquisitions at Molex (a Koch Industries Company) where he also supported the incubation of two new business units. While completing his undergraduate studies, Manas was the cofounder of a novel polymer startup.
