The Technology Entrepreneur Center (TEC) provides students and faculty with the skills, resources and experiences necessary to become successful innovators, entrepreneurs and leaders who tackle grand challenges and change the world. TEC offers on campus and online courses and certificate programs and hosts outreach activities for students and alumni. TEC also administers the annual Cozad New Venture Competition and the Illinois Innovation Prize, among several other programs.

Job Opportunity

The Technology Entrepreneur Center is seeking a Marketing and Event intern to help with general marketing of the center and their mission. The intern will gain valuable skills in relationship building, marketing, planning, organizing events and volunteer coordination.

Internship Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of TEC’s programs, marketing initiatives and events.
  • Assist in the development of marketing materials both traditional and digital.
  • Assist in writing press releases, stories on TEC students and faculty, website and social media content.
  • Works closely with staff on social media marketing tactics (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, SnapChat, etc.)
  • Runs booths at events like Quad Day, Professional Development Fair, Entrepreneurship Forum, etc.
  • Speak to RSO’s and classes about what TEC has to offer (courses, programs, experiences, etc.)
  • Assist in program management including set-up, registration, clean-up and other duties as assigned.
  • Provide overall assistance to the TEC team as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must be a current student at the University of Illinois in public relations, marketing, advertising or a related field.  Alternate fields will be considered if accompanied by equivalent experience. Preference is given to rising sophomores and juniors. 
  • Must be able to commit to a minimum work schedule of 15 hrs. per week on a regular basis. 
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Suite, Social Media Platforms.
  • Be a self-starter, can take initiative, can work independently and is willing to suggest new approaches, programs or ideas.
  • They will also possess an interest in and basic knowledge of entrepreneurship. Preference given to students with knowledge of entrepreneurial ecosystem at Illinois.

Compensation

This is a paid internship. Salary is commensurate with experience. Starting date is end of May.

Term of employment

The intern will begin May 2017 (summer session) and continue through the 2017-2018 academic year with the possibility to renew.

TEC 2017-18 Internship: Photography

The Technology Entrepreneur Center (TEC) is looking for a Photography Intern to start immediately and continue through the 2017-2018 academic year. (excluding summer)

Job Opportunity:

Internship Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Capture photos at TEC events, workshops, classes and programs.
  • Edit photographs captured and also edit footage from past events for use in a variety of capacities.
  • Add photos to TEC’s social networking groups and pages.
  • Other photo related projects as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be a currently enrolled Undergraduate or Graduate student at the University of Illinois.
  • Must be able to commit to about 5-10 hrs. per week on a regular basis. Some evening and weekend hours may be required to attend TEC events.
  • Must have experience with photo editing software, the Internet and posting photos online.
  • Must provide photo samples.
  • Must be self-motivated and eager to learn.
  • Must have a passion for entrepreneurship and innovation!

The length of these internships will be determined by successful candidate and TEC faculty/staff, and may increase in the future.

TEC 2017-18 Internship: Videographer/Producer

The Technology Entrepreneur Center (TEC) is looking for a Video Intern for summer 2017and the 2017-18 academic school year.

Job Opportunity:

Internship Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Capture video footage at TEC events, workshops, classes and programs.
  • Edit video footage captured and also edit footage from past events for use in a variety of capacities.
  • Upload video content to TEC YouTube Channel and manage channel.
  • Add photos and video content to TEC’s social networking groups and pages.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing videos for the TEC.
  • Other video and photo related projects as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be a currently enrolled as a student at the University of Illinois.
  • Must be able to commit to a minimum work schedule of 10-15 hrs. per week on a regular basis. Some evening and weekend hours may be required to attend TEC events.
  • Must have experience with video editing software and posting videos on YouTube.
  • Must provide video samples.
  • Must be self-motivated and eager to learn.
  • Must have a passion for entrepreneurship and innovation!

The length of this internship will be determined by successful candidate and TEC faculty/staff, and may increase in the future. If interested in a SUMMER internship, please inquire.
